Keep it friendly
Please keep discussions on topic and respect others when posting. Everyone has the right to hold their own opinion and disagree with others. However, you are not free to attack, degrade, belittle, or insult other members.
If you see something that you don’t think should be on the site, please report it and do not get involved in arguments or off-topic discussions.
Any material which constitutes defamation, harassment, or abuse is strictly prohibited. Material, including images, that is sexually or otherwise obscene, racist, or otherwise overly discriminatory is not permitted on these forums. Please use your common sense when posting.
No spam/advertising/self-promotion
Do not offer goods or services for sale or post unnecessary links to other websites. Spamming also includes sending unsolicited private messages to other forum members.
Stay safe
Do not share any personal information directly within the forums or via private messages. If you arrange to meet someone, then please take the usual precautions.
Private messages
Do not send unsolicited private messages. Do not send private messages asking for help or replying to questions posted on the public forums.
Captive birds
This community is for the discussion of wild birds only. If you want to start a conversation about caged, aviary, or pet birds this is not the place for you.
Bird identification
If you need help identifying a bird you’ve seen, please post it in the appropriate forum. You can find 100s of British bird identification guides here.
To keep things tidy, if you get a satisfactory answer, please vote the answer up and indicate the topic has been solved by clicking the green check mark.

General posting guidelines
New topics
Please post a descriptive topic name so that members understand what it is about. Examples of bad topic names are, “Help!”, “I have a question”, or “Very urgent”.
Tags
A tag is a word that describes the topic and can help people find discussions more easily. When adding tags use all lower case and think about how someone would search for that subject.
Solved and answered topics
If you have asked a question and someone has answered it, mark the topic as solved or answered.
Use the voting buttons in the Q&A forums to signal to the rest of the community whether a question has been answered correctly or not. Upvotes are also a great way of thanking a member who has shared useful information.
